This course has been the standard in teaching lower extremity alignment for the last 30 years. It is intended for orthopedic surgeons and podiatrists who treat long bone and foot/ankle deformities. No prior experience is required.

The course features lectures, deformity planning sessions, innovative apps, interactive participant case presentations, and an internationally renowned faculty. We will introduce basic and advanced limb reconstruction concepts including limb alignment, limb lengthening, corrective osteotomies, and internal and external fixation.

The 2019 in-person Course was attended by 275 physicians from 36 foreign countries and 33 U.S. states. The 2020 virtual Course attracted 320 attendees from 43 countries and 29 U.S. states.

When you register for the in-person course(s), it is with the understanding that the program will meet in-person only if it is safe to do so, and with participants adhering to any applicable safety measures at that time such as mandatory face coverings, temperature checks, and social distancing. In July, all hybrid Course participants will be required to review and sign our Code of Conduct and COVID-19 Protocols document, which will explain what we will expect of all people at the event and what they can expect from us. We will provide regular updates on our website as the situation evolves. If you have registered for any in-person event, be sure to watch your email as that is how we will be sending updates.

The decision to proceed with our in-person events has been made...Full steam ahead! If an unforeseen circumstance occurs and we are unable to hold our face-to-face courses in early August, we will provide our participants with as much advance notice as possible, and refund 100% of your hybrid registration payment. You will be given the option to transfer $550 of your paid registration fee for enrollment in the virtual-only Course.

If you have registered for the hybrid Course and you want to change to the virtual-only, please notify us by July 16, 2021, and we will make the necessary change without any penalty and refund you the remaining balance.

Course Objectives

Introduce basic and advanced concepts in limb alignment, corrective osteotomies, and internal and external fixation for limb reconstruction, including lengthening and realignment.

Topics to be covered:

  • Sagittal and oblique plane deformities
  • Rotational deformities
  • Foot and ankle deformities
  • Monolateral/circular external fixation
  • Acute correction techniques
  • Gait implications for angular and rotational deformities
  • Measurement of deformity on digital radiographs

  • Limb lengthening techniques

Following completion of this event, participants will be able to:

  • Describe simple and complex pediatric and adult lower limb deformities
  • Interpret advances in the field of limb reconstruction and deformity correction
  • Identify optimal location of the osteotomy
  • Recognize the methodology of minimally invasive internal and external fixation
  • Analyze deformities of the lower limb using electronic media technology
